Here, you will be able to choose the volunteer session you would like to attend.

Please read the volunteer roles carefully to select the opportunity that best suits you.

Important information before you begin:

  • All sessions are at the Hub – 16 Pakington Street, St Kilda
  • All sessions involve standing and moving around.
  • All sessions in the Hub include cleaning up during and at the end of the session to maintain a clean and safe working space.
  • All volunteers are required to uphold and follow food safety guidelines including wearing PPE correctly, removing excessive jewellery and wearing kitchen appropriate attire (closed toed shoes) for sessions in the hub.
  • For Kid friendly ages 8+ sessions – each adult may bring up to two children aged 8 or older.
  • If you’re interested in committing to a regular shift, please contact us at volunteer@ccare.org.au to discuss scheduling.

Volunteer roles

Ad-hoc Delivery: Once off pick-up of produce and meal services to deliver to a range of 5-10 recipients, using your personal vehicle. Involves interacting with recipients from a wide socio-economic and cultural background.

Please note:

  • Pickup location: 16 Pakington St, St Kilda.
  • It is essential to be able to adhere to food safety time limits and procedures – these as well as any information regarding their well-being, need to recorded  
  • Lifting and carrying food parcels – sometimes upstairs – is required.
  • We recommend teaming up with a friend to make it easier – one can drive while the other delivers (both need to be registered as C Care Volunteers).

Challah Braiding: Braid challah dough for C Care’s delicious challahs. No experience is necessary – our team will guide you through the process. This session is suitable for kids aged 8+ accompanied by an adult.

Challah Dough Portioning: Evenly weigh and portion Challah dough. This session is suitable for kids aged 8+ accompanied by an adult.

Cookie Making: Weighing, rolling and preparing delicious cookies for baking.

Food Preparation: Preparing and chopping fruit and vegetables for use in our fresh meals, soups and compote.  Knives in use.

Meal Packing: Package freshly cooked food into individual portions for our recipients.

Meal Sealing: Sealing the packed meals for our recipients.  

Produce Bag Packing: Packing challah and fresh fruit and vegetables into bags for our recipients, ensuring the right variety, quantity and quality.
