THE BUDDY INITIATIVE

THE BUDDY INITIATIVE

Buddy Initiative volunteers commit to calling at least two recipients per week and devote time to them by listening, helping and supporting them as a friend. The aim is for the outreach calls to continue throughout the pandemic and beyond so that no person feels alone or forgotten. *To be a Buddy, you must undergo a Police Check.

Cook Offs

COOK OFFS

COOK OFFS

This includes preparing, cooking and packing meals, ready for them to be delivered to our recipients. These Cook-Offs can include tasks anywhere from sorting, peeling and chopping vegetables, to wrapping cake, cutting fruit, washing dishes, or packing meals, there is something for everyone during these sessions!

Deliveries

DELIVERIES

DELIVERIES

Our volunteers ensure each visit and meal delivered is accompanied by a chat, moral support, encouragement, referrals to support systems where needed, and inquiries about their health and wellbeing. This short time spent with our recipients, allows them to feel cared for and not forgotten. * To deliver, you must have a current driver’s license, your own car, and undergo a Police Check.

How often can I volunteer?

You are welcome to volunteer as often as you like. Each week at 6:30pm on Sunday, we load the sessions for the coming week onto our booking site. You are then able to book into the shifts that suit you. At the moment, our sessions are booking up very quickly, so we suggest booking in as close to 6:30pm on a Sunday as you can.

How can I get access to the booking site?

Please take a few minutes to sign up as a volunteer with C Care. You can sign up through this link: https://www.ccare.org.au/get-involved/volunteer-sign-up/. You will then be added to our email list and will receive our weekly email on Sunday at 6:30pm. This email will contain the link to our session booking site and from there, you are able to choose the sessions you would like to volunteer for..

Unfortunately, we cannot accept a Working with Children check.

What does ‘being a buddy’ mean?

At the core of C Care’s mission, is the desire to connect through friendship. The Buddy Initiative aims to do just that. One person connecting with another by holding out the hand of friendship.
