Volunteer FAQs
How often can I volunteer?
You are welcome to volunteer as often as you like. Each week at 6:30pm on Sunday, we load the sessions for the coming week onto our booking site. You are then able to book into the shifts that suit you. At the moment, our sessions are booking up very quickly, so we suggest booking in as close to 6:30pm on a Sunday as you can.
How can I get access to the booking site?
Please take a few minutes to sign up as a volunteer with C Care. You can sign up through this link: https://www.ccare.org.au/get-involved/volunteer-sign-up/. You will then be added to our email list and will receive our weekly email on Sunday at 6:30pm. This email will contain the link to our session booking site and from there, you are able to choose the sessions you would like to volunteer for..
When can I volunteer?
We have many shifts available each week and you are able to volunteer whenever suits you. Whether its once a week, once a month, once a year, or every day, we are very grateful for the help and appreciate any time that you are able to give.
Do I need a Police Check?
Yes. We require a police check to be undertaken if you would like to volunteer for delivery sessions or The Buddy Initiative social call sessions. You are able to apply for a Police Check through a special link which will be sent to you when you sign up as a new volunteer.
I have a Working with Children check, do I still need a police check?
Unfortunately, we cannot accept a Working with Children check.
What do I have to wear when I come to volunteer?
When you volunteer at The Hub, you MUST wear closed toe shoes. Other than that, please dress comfortably so you can enjoy your time with us.
If you are taking part in a cooking shift, you will be required to wear the necessary apparel as guided by your session leader, i.e. apron, gloves, hairnet, beard net and/or mask. If you cannot wear the required items, unfortunately you will not be able to volunteer on the day.
Do I have to book into a session or can I just show up?
Please make sure you book into specific sessions, as unfortunately we are unable to accommodate walk-ins at this time.
What does ‘being a buddy’ mean?
At the core of C Care’s mission, is the desire to connect through friendship. The Buddy Initiative aims to do just that. One person connecting with another by holding out the hand of friendship. We are always looking for ongoing volunteers who wish to be buddied up with two of our recipients, who you will then call once a week to check in on them.
Full training is provided.
If you are looking to be part of this special program and are able to devote time each week, please sign up as a volunteer and then register for a Buddy session, it will be life changing.
I want to be a delivery volunteer, what do I need?
You need to have access to a car, as well as a current driver’s license. You also must have a Police check.
Can I bring someone with me to help deliver?
Yes, deliveries can be done by yourself, with a friend or even in a group, our recipients enjoy meeting new people!
